Latino Journalism and Media at Carolina

Latijam is a school-wide initiative of the School of Media and Journalism at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, and follows a four-pillar strategy that addresses needs in the areas of news, research, curriculum, and engagement and public service. Latijam is a cultural development effort dedicated to improve journalism and strategic communication of Latino life in North Carolina and beyond. Latijam partners with other academic units of UNC-CH for specific endeavors. Likewise, it has collaborations with media and organizations in and beyond the campus. Faculty, students and Latino community members who most actively participate in Latijam are members of its Advisory Board.

The terms “Latina” and “Latino” are used to refer to residents of the United States who trace their origin or descent to Spain, Latin America, and the Caribbean.
